This course prepares testing professionals for the ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer certification by providing advanced skills and knowledge in test automation strategy, design and implementation. You must hold the ISTQB® Foundation Certificate and have practical experience with testing and automation tools to get the full benefit of this course.

As a self-confessed bug-magnet, quality advocate and risk nut, Sue Atkins has been active in the world of software testing and process improvement for over thirty years.
She has experience of software development from both the waterfall and Agile perspectives across a diverse range of sectors – from banking and telecoms to healthcare and retail.
Sue has a passion for training and loves to help others grow their skills in all dimensions of testing, quality and process improvement. Automation architecture
You learn how to design automation solutions that scale, including abstraction layers, modular architecture patterns and how to separate concerns for maintainability and reuse.
Tool selection and evaluation
This section focuses on criteria for choosing automation tools, how to evaluate them based on project context and how to integrate them into your test ecosystem.
Building maintainable automated tests
You gain practical techniques for writing robust automated tests, structuring test suites, and using best practices that minimise flakiness and maximises reliability.
Integration with CI/CD pipelines
Learn how to integrate automated testing into continuous integration and delivery workflows so that automated test suites run reliably and consistently as part of delivery processes.
Monitoring and reporting automation outcomes
This part of the course helps you understand how to measure automation effectiveness, gather meaningful metrics and report automation quality to stakeholders.

About the exam
The Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer exam is comprised of 40 multiple choice questions, with a pass mark grade of 65% to be completed within 90 minutes. The examination is separate from the 3 day course and sat on a different day.
The course includes one exam voucher for the official ISTQB examination. The exam voucher is valid for 365 days from the date of issue, and the exam must be booked within six months after completing the course. The examination is conducted as an online proctored exam, unless otherwise stated.
