ISTQB Acceptance Testing

This course provides knowledge and skills to perform structured acceptance testing based on the internationally recognised ISTQB® syllabus. It focuses on methods for planning, designing and executing acceptance tests that ensure end-to-end quality from a business perspective. About Sue Atkins

As a self-confessed bug-magnet, quality advocate and risk nut, Sue Atkins has been active in the world of software testing and process improvement for over thirty years.

She has experience of software development from both the waterfall and Agile perspectives across a diverse range of sectors – from banking and telecoms to healthcare and retail.

The course starts with the role of acceptance testing in validating requirements and specifying exit criteria. You learn how acceptance testing supports both Agile and traditional lifecycle models.

Requirements and acceptance criteria

You will learn how to translate business needs and user expectations into clear acceptance criteria that can be tested objectively.

Test planning and preparation

This section covers planning activities for acceptance testing, including scheduling, defining scope and coordinating with stakeholders.

Test design and techniques

You gain insight into test design techniques used to create meaningful acceptance tests, including scenario and business rule-based approaches.

Execution and evaluation

The course shows how to conduct acceptance tests, record results and evaluate outcomes in collaboration with product owners or users.

Reporting and collaboration

You learn how to communicate acceptance test results, interpret feedback, and support decision making about release readiness.

About the exam

The exam is included in the training. 

The Foundation Level Acceptance Testing exam is comprised of 40 multiple-choice questions, with a pass mark grade of 65% to be completed within 60 minutes. Participants that take the exam not in their spoken language, will receive additional 25% time, for a total of 75 minutes.

The course includes one exam voucher for the official ISTQB examination. The exam voucher is valid for 365 days from the date of issue, and the exam must be booked within six months after completing the course. The examination is conducted as an online proctored exam, unless otherwise stated.

Accredited training providers

The typical duration of the Acceptance Testing Certification Training offered by an Accredited Training Provider is 2 days. Completion of an accredited training course is not a prerequisite for participating to the exam.
