ISTQB® Agile Tester

This course provides a structured introduction to agile testing principles and practices as recognised by the ISTQB® Agile Tester syllabus. It helps you understand how testing fits into agile teams, how to collaborate effectively in agile environments and how to apply testing techniques that support fast, high-quality delivery. You will gain both theory and practical insights into how agile teams integrate quality throughout the development lifecycle.

In this training you learn the mindset and practices that distinguish agile testing from traditional testing approaches. The course covers how agile teams work, how continuous feedback and test automation supports quality, and how to adapt testing techniques to short iterations and evolving requirements. Prerequisites

You should have the ISTQB® Foundation Certificate or equivalent understanding of basic testing concepts. Experience with agile teams is beneficial but not mandatory.

About Sue Atkins

As a self-confessed bug-magnet, quality advocate and risk nut, Sue Atkins has been active in the world of software testing and process improvement for over thirty years.

She has experience of software development from both the waterfall and Agile perspectives across a diverse range of sectors – from banking and telecoms to healthcare and retail.

Sue has a passion for training and loves to help others grow their skills in all dimensions of testing, quality and process improvement.  She has spoken at a number of conferences, is co-chair of the Scottish Testing Group and was a member of the programme committee for EuroSTAR 2022 – Europe’s largest Testing Conference.

 

Agile principles and test mindset

You begin with understanding core agile values and principles, and how they shape the role and responsibilities of testing within agile teams.

Agile team collaboration

This section focuses on the collaborative nature of agile, including how testers work closely with developers, product owners and other stakeholders to ensure shared ownership of quality.

Test strategies for agile

You learn strategies that support continuous feedback and fast delivery, including iterative test planning, early test design and techniques for adapting tests to change.

Exploratory and automated testing

The course covers exploratory testing and automated test approaches, and how they complement each other in agile contexts to detect issues early and reliably.

Test automation integration

You gain insight into how automation supports agile teams, what to automate, and best practices for maintaining reliable automated test suites in fast-changing environments.

Reporting and metrics in agile

This part of the course introduces metrics and reporting approaches that support transparency, quality monitoring and decision-making in agile teams.

About the exam

The Agile tester exam comprises 40 multiple-choice questions, with a scoring of 1 point for each correct answer, a pass mark of at least 65% (26 or more points) and a duration of 60 minutes (or 75 minutes for candidates taking exams that are not in their native language). 

The exam is included in the course price.

Please note you need to hold the ISTQB Level Foundation Exam to take this test 

The course includes one exam voucher for the official ISTQB examination. The exam voucher is valid for 365 days from the date of issue, and the exam must be booked within six months after completing the course. The examination is conducted as an online proctored exam, unless otherwise stated.
