Change Management Practitioner

The Change Management Practitioner course provides participants with a thorough grounding in the Principles of Change Management, as they are summarized in the reference literature. The Change Management practitioner course is aimed to get a deep understanding of why change happens, how change happens and what needs to be done to make change a more welcoming and achievable concept. In particular such course should be delivered in in organizations looking for real application of the different frameworks and of the ways of approaching change at an individual, team and organizational level.

Course description:

This course is delivered using a case study and an exercise kit designed to further enhance and cement the candidates understanding of the subject. Students who have attended this course are suitably prepared to successfully take the associated Change Management Practitioner certification exam. 

Participants will learn a deep understanding of how to apply the principles and core elements of Change Management, namely:
  • Managing change and the individual
  • Managing change and the team
  • Managing change and the organization
  • Leadership and change

 

At the end of this course, you will be able to: 

  1. Understand how to support people learn what they need to during change
  2. Appreciate different approaches to change management and their implications for supporting individuals through change and understand why people react as they do and how delegates can help individuals through the change process
  3. Appreciate why teams are important in change, understand what factors contribute to team success and understand how teams change and develop and so help delegates to deliver improvements in team performance
  4. Identify key metaphors describing how organisations change and how these can help delegates plan appropriate action during change
  5. Understand what assumptions people may have about organisational change
  6. Formulate an integrated model of the change management process and how this can help delegates to introduce successful change within an organisation
  7. Know what key areas need to be considered are when planning organisational change and understand the difference between management and leadership
  8. Identify different leadership styles and their effects on the change process
  9. Understand the important role leaders have to play in change management
  10. Begin to develop a healthy response to the demands of change management leadership
  11. Take the Change Management Practitioner Certification exam

    • Deeper discussion on Strategic objectives with practical examples

    • Fun discussions on emergent change, how to plan for the unknown
      including: VUCA scenario

    Communication & Stakeholders

    • Discussions on communications theory to enhance change and the role
      of communication
    • Further discussions on cognitive bias and how to use discuss for
      these in workshops
    • Further on effective communication, creating the effect in people
    • How to develop a communication strategy

    Change practices:

    • How to identify and use levers to achieve change
    • How to create reinforcing systems in a change project
    • More discussion on team effectiveness, how to reach high performance
    • Resistance tactics and various perspectives

  • The exam is will take place at the end of the course on onsite classroom courses

    The purpose of the Practitioner certification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient know-how to apply and tailor Change Management guidance in a given organizational change situation. 

    Exam format:

    • Objective testing based on a case study scenario
    • Four questions of 20 marks each
    • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) - 50%
    • 2.5 hours duration
    • Restricted open book - The Effective Change Manager’s Handbook may be used in the exam.
